This 2-ingredient oats wrap recipe use basic kitchen science to achieve a soft, low calorie flatbread that won’t crack or tear—plus it has no dairy or yeast.

Most grocery store wraps rely on gums, preservatives, and added oils to stay pliable. Finally, here is an easy, guilt-free wrap recipe that you can make under 30 minutes from scratch at home. No fermentation, soaking, or fancy techniques required.
And the best part you can get as creative as possible with the stuffing and serving of these wraps. I am making them on repeat and they have become absolute family favourite.
Why This Simple Ratio Works?
Making a flexible wrap can be tricky. Ground oats alone often yield a brittle flatbread that cracks as soon as you fold it.
That’s where chia seeds come in:
- Natural Binding Power: Chia seeds are hydrophilic (water-loving). When ground and mixed with water, they absorb up to 10–12 times their weight, forming a gel-like mucilage structure.
- Elastic Texture: This gel acts like gluten, binding the wrap so that it stays pliable and bends without snapping.
- Nutritional Density: The combination delivers a steady release of complex carbohydrates alongside healthy omega-3 fatty acids and soluble dietary fiber.
Ingredients You’ll Need
- Rolled Oats (use certified gluten-free if needed). You can make these wraps with whole oats or instant oats also.
- Dried Chia Seeds whole and not powder.
- Seasoning: Salt, Cumin Powder, Onion or Garlic Powder
- Water to soak and blend the ingredients.
How to Make Oats Wrap
1. Mix and Soak:
- Combine rolled oats and chia seeds in a bowl.
- Add water. Let them soak for 5 – 6 minutes.
2. Blend and Rest:
- Blend the soaked ingredients in a high speed blender till smooth and creamy. Do not add additional water while blending.
- After blending, season the batter, mix nicely, and let it rest.
Pro Tip: This rest period gives the chia seeds and oats time to absorb moisture and build elasticity.
3. Make your Wraps
- Preheat a non-stick skillet over medium heat. If your pan tends to stick, lightly wipe it with a tiny drop of oil using a paper towel.
- Pour about ⅓ cup of batter into the center of the pan. Working quickly, use the back of a ladle or spoon in a gentle circular motion to spread the batter into a thin, even circle (around 6–7 inches wide).
- Cook for 1.5 to 2 minutes on the first side. You’ll see the edges lift slightly and small bubbles form. Gently slide your spatula underneath and flip. Cook for another 1 minute on the second side until light golden spots appear.
Serving Ideas
These Oats Wrap tastes best with a layer of a creamy spread like avocado sauce to hold everything together, paired with grilled protein of choice like tofu, paneer, chicken, or Turkey and fresh crunch from the green leafy vegetables.
- Smashed Chickpea Salad: Mash ½ cup canned chickpeas with 1 tablespoon hummus or Greek yogurt, lemon juice, salt, and pepper. Roll up with sliced cucumbers, cherry tomatoes, crumbled feta, and fresh spinach.
- Classic Avocado and Eggs: Spread mashed avocado or guacamole across the wrap. Layer with scrambled eggs, a layer of cherry tomatoes, shredded lettuce, and a squeeze of Dijon mustard.
- Warm Garlic Mushroom & Spinach: Sauté sliced button mushrooms with garlic and baby spinach for 3 minutes. Spread plain cream cheese or goat cheese on the wrap, add the warm mushrooms, and roll immediately so the cheese melts slightly.
- Nut Butter, Banana & Cinnamon Roll-Up: Spread 2 tablespoons of peanut, almond, or sunflower seed butter across the wrap. Place a whole peeled banana at one end, sprinkle generously with ground cinnamon, and roll tight. (Tip: Slice into bite-sized “pinwheels” for a quick snack).
