Homemade Pizza Sauce Recipe
This is my easy, homemade pizza sauce recipe. Learn how to make multi-purpose, gluten-free tomato sauce in a few simple steps.

- 1 Can crushed tomato (1 Cup crushed tomato)
- 2 tablespoon tomato paste or ketchup
- 4 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
- 1 tablespoon finely chopped garlic
- 2 teaspoon dried oregano
- Salt to taste
- ¼ Cup fresh basil leaves
Heat olive oil in a saucepan.
Add chopped garlic. Saute for 10 - 20 seconds to release the aroma and infuse the flavor in the oil. Add chopped onion at this stage and saute.
Add crushed tomato, tomato paste, salt, seasoning, and cook the sauce for 5 - 10 minutes or till thick with a spreading consistency. Turn off the heat.
Add fresh basil. Allow the sauce to cool down completely.
Store pizza sauce in a clean, dry container or use immediately.
- I highly recommend using canned crushed tomatoes for making this sauce.
- You can substitute tomato paste with tomato ketchup as well.
- Adjust the quantity of garlic and other seasonings as per your taste preference.
- Optional Ingredients: Butter, Chopped Onion, Black Pepper, Fresh Basil. Many of these ingredients are not added to an authentic pizza sauce. hence, you can happily skip them.
- Store pizza sauce for a week in the refrigerator or freeze it.
- To make vegan pizza sauce, do not add butter.
