Are you planning a foodie’s day out in Delhi? Then this ultimate food guide could help you in many ways. I am surely not the capital city expert. But yes, I am somebody who recently shifted to the city and built up my own city guide by dining out at different restaurants of the city. And I must tell you, Delhi will surely spoil you for choices when it comes to dining out places! This blog is an endeavor in association with JetPrivilege to share my experiences at Delhi’s celebrated eating joints, which are the talk-of-the-town for their food and dining encounter.
One dull afternoon I, with my friend, headed to one of the most elite locales of the city – Mehrauli. A day before, I had booked a curated menu for the two of us at Lavaash By Saby – the Armenian cafe. Now, you might be wondering what this curated menu is, and how one can book it. Well, here it is: If you are a JetPrivilege member then you can visit (jetprivilege.com) and book specially curated menus which are exclusively handcrafted for JetPrivilege members. We will talk about the benefits of booking a dinner date this way, maybe later in the post. But for now, let’s focus on Lavaash by Saby. A sprawling space, Lavaash brings the best of Armenian cuisine {with Bengali influences} to the table. The beautiful indoor and outdoor seating area, slow music and innovative dishes on the curated menu are perfect for the best of the casual dining experience. The food is brilliant and even better when you are in a good company of food-lovers. My favorite pick from their menu was the amaranth puff and roasted veggies salad in tamarind dressing. That was surely one heck of a flavorsome dish!
After a satisfying lunch at Lavaash, we went straight to the heart of the capital Connaught Place aka CP, for the evening course of drinks. What could be a better place then CP to enjoy the chirpiness of the dusk with friends? Tamasha was our next destination. The bold fusion of curiosity and creativity backed by a tranquil alfresco sitting area makes Tamasha one of Delhi’s must-visit nightlife spots. The first thing that catches your eye at Tamasha is the huge truck-bar. An old banyan tree hangs overhead, with a series of lights swinging from its tendrils, covering much of the outdoor space. The menu was full of fusion items, combining Indian, Middle Eastern and classic continental dishes.
Just around the corner, there is another place called 38 Barracks, where you can stop by after work for a round of drinks. The moment you step inside the bar, the decor of the place transports you to the colonial era. Drinks and dishes on the menu too have military references to their names. The cocktails are all on the sweeter side, with underlying flavors of orange or mint. The staff is happy to assist you with the food pairings if you are feeling little lost on the menu. On that note, we wrapped up our Day 1 to ultimate Delhi dining guide.
Day 2 began with booking a cab for the day from one of JetPrivilege’s rent-a-car partner (BookMyCab) for tasting another curated menu, this time at The Fatty Bao. The Fatty Bao is the town’s hot spot for best Ramen and Char Siu Bao. It’s trendy, it’s chic, and the colorful interiors are bright but yet elegant in their own way. The oversized pandas, stylish lighting and happy music over the sound system fall right in place with the super-delicious food. Everything we tried from the exclusive curated menu designed for JetPrivilege members was extremely tasty. The Fried Eggplant Bao, Ramen Bowl, and the decadent caramel dessert, all were a treat for the taste buds. If you too do not want to miss this great chance to dine at one of these popular places, make your reservations soon via the JetPrivilege website. Benefits? Every time you make a table reservation, book a curated menu using your JetPrivilege membership number or make your payment using one of the JetPrivilege / Jet Airways co-brand cards, you will earn JPMiles which will get you closer to Free Award Flight Tickets
Next stop of the day was Farzi Cafe in CP. Focusing on the gourmet diner as well as the youth of India, Farzi Café aims to bring Indian cuisine back “in-vogue”. Farzi Café is best known for “creating an illusion” with its food and drinks. It is a quirky, chic, modern Indian café, where guests enjoy a sensory experience through the finest modern Indian cuisine, all served with an oomph factor. When you take a break from grooving to the tunes, indulge in their signature Duck Samosas, Dal Chawal Arancini or Bombay Bhel Puri Platter. And you can surely not miss out the Heston Blumenthal inspired cocktails.
The last stop of our ultimate dining Delhi guide was this new place in the block called Birdie Num Num. A cocktail bar with coastal food, Birdie Num Num is Gurgaon’s first cocktail bar that serves all kinds of regional curries at its best. So, it’s pretty much an all-in-one kind of a place. Go for their signature cocktails, stay for the food and definitely try their in-house rose kulfi. Some of these eating experiences made it to the TripAdvisor as well, reason? To share these delicious dining experience reviews with other food lovers, and to earn more JPMiles.
The craze of the town for good food is unbeatable and the diversity of places serving it is immense. And I must share with you the best part of this food journey: I earned 5000+ JPMiles while relishing meals at some of the finest restaurants in the capital, writing reviews, renting cars etc. by using JetPrivilege program partners Isn’t that cool? Hope you followed our journey on Instagram and had fun drooling over some of the best food pictures! Until later!
