Citi Restaurant Week India is back, one of the most popular food event among food lovers to experience the culinary delights at selected few finest restaurants at a very affordable cost. Citibank Restaurant Week India is a celebration of the finest gastronomic experiences in India held across Bangalore, Delhi, and Mumbai. The idea behind is to make most exclusive dine in places approachable for the new customers, which they may have hesitated from trying and also this allows participating restaurants to showcase their food by selecting dishes representative of their philosophy and reach out to new diners.
Citibank Restaurant Week India runs typically in March/April and September simultaneously across Bangalore, Delhi, and Mumbai. The 10-day event showcases over 75 restaurants across the three cities, this is done via three-course prefix menus at Rs.1,050++ for lunch and Rs1,350++ for dinner in Delhi and Mumbai and Rs900++ for both in Bangalore.
As a food enthusiast I never miss this opportunity so last year I dined at one of the famous Asian Gastro Bar in Whitefield and this year as well I have selected the newly opened The Fatty Bao, another Asian Gastro Bar which in a short span of time has stirred up attention of food connoisseurs from all over the country and has become town’s hot spot for best Ramen and Char Siu Bao. It’s trendy, it’s chic, it’s new Asian dining meets fun, inventive rooftop bar experience. The colorful interior is bright and popping yet elegant in its own way, oversized pandas, stylish lighting and happy music over the sound system fall right in place with the smiling staff.
From the pre-fixed menu, I had sugar cane chicken for the appetizer, spicy chicken balls served on sugar cane skewers along with chili dip over the bed of fried noodles, and to my surprise, those sugarcane sticks were so fresh and juicy, loved the idea of using sugar cane sticks as skewers. After giving a lot of thought to the main course options I decided to have slow cooked Lamb Massaman Curry, lamb shanks slow cooked for hours with baby potatoes, peanuts, onion, and basil. Curry is served with steamed/jasmine rice along with peanut dip, fried onion, crushed peanuts, and papadum. It may sound that I am raving about the curry but it was one of the best Thai Curries I have tasted, lamb meat was cooked to perfection, curry flavors were spot on, a subtle flavor of ghee and flavorful sides were making it a wholesome meal, I simply overstuffed myself and still could not resist the temptation to finish the whole curry though I couldn’t finish it off.
My server for the night understood that I have outstretched my stuffing limits so with a gentle smile he served the dessert after a while, for which I could not thank him enough, for the desserts I choose The Fatty Hill, which is mint centered chocolate pyramid with vanilla gelato, praline and rice crispies and my sole reason behind for selecting this dessert was mint flavor, which I am addicted to. And yes as the name suggests the dessert was literally pyramid shaped chocolate dessert covered with perfectly crunchy rice crisps studded with mint and pistachio flakes served with vanilla gelato, praline, and chocolate mud. That dessert was a delightful end to a perfect meal and a great evening
